Lipstick Favorites

Lipstick is my favorite aspect of everything beauty. It’s where the name for this blog comes from. There are a lot of lip products that I love to use, and my addiction to buying new ones has been something I have to control all the time! From glosses to stains to balms, I love it all. On days when I go completely without makeup, I’ll cheat and add a splash of color to my lips. Sometimes it’s all that you need to add some fun to a boring look. These are my favorite lip products that I can’t stop using

Revlon Colorburst is one of my favorite balmy lipsticks. It’s smooth and the pigment is surprisingly strong. I’m embarrassed to admit that I own almost all of the colors. They’re all wonderful, and pretty inexpensive!

Marc Jacobs Lip Vinyl is my splurge when it comes to lip gloss, it’s expensive, but the colors are beautiful. The size of the applicator is perfect for precise application. This gloss has a bit of a tingle since it’s “plumping” but it’s not nearly as bad as some other similar products I have used, which have completely burned my lips off! I hate those, but this is not one of them.

The Clinique Chubby Stick is a wonderful balm that is nourishing and moisturizing while still packing a punch of color. The tints are all wonderful and add color in a way that appears really natural and beautiful. I kept hearing a lot of buzz about these things, but I was put off by the price. Eventually I caved and bought one after I was able to test it in a store. I ended up buying 3 more! I really do have a problem, don’t I?

3 Awesome Beauty Sites

There are so many beauty blogs out in the world, and to be honest, I’m a fan of just about all of them. I decided to start this blog here because I also wanted to share my love of makeup and fabulous things. My obsession often leads me to hunting down new beauty sites all the time. Now these are probably not new to most people, but here are three that I’ve discovered this week that I can’t get enough of recently.

Total Beauty: I feel a bit silly for listing such a clearly well known website, but I only just came across this amazing beauty resource a few days ago, when doing a search for great lipsticks. This site is packed with product lists, advice, and even reviews. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve spent several hours going through the site and reading posts. And I don’t even think I’ve covered everything that I want to read! Favorite article from Total Beauty.

Nails and Polish: I recently got into gel polish, and while researching for ideas on which lamp I should get so I could do everything myself, I came across this amazing resource for all things gel polish. There’s information on other nail care type things as well, but the gel polish information is incredibly valuable. It helped cut my research time for lamps down considerably. I had no idea where to start when I began my journey and with this site, I didn’t have to crawl the web to find all the information I needed. Favorite article from Nails and Polish.

All Women Stalk: This website is similar to Total Beauty in that it’s a massive site filled with information on a vast array of websites. Not just beauty, the site focuses on all kinds of women’s interest topics. One of the things I really like about this site is that there appears to be a focus on community. I like the placement of the comments section right on the side of the article, so that the discussion is at the forefront, rather than an afterthought. The opinions and suggestions of the women who visit the site are just as important as those presented in the article itself. Favorite article from All Women Stalk.

So these are the sites I’ve been visiting a bunch lately. I’ll probably have to take a break from my crazy searches or else I’ll be sending hundreds of articles to my pocket app!

Tea Time Beauty Secrets

I love tea. It’s delicious, soothing, and relaxing. It’s also great for health and beauty. Tea is filled with nutrients and antioxidants that can make your skin glow and hair extra shiny.

  1. If your hair is dull, tea can be used to add shine to it. Just boil some water using a kettle or water heater and steep the tea bags (black or green) for 15 minutes so it’s extra strong. Rinse your hair and then pour the (cool) tea onto the hair. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and then remove it. Shampooing and conditioning afterward will lock in the shine.
  2. The most well-known but still important use for tea when it comes to beauty is eliminating under eye circles and puffiness. Tea contains caffeine and the caffeine in the bags will shrink the blood vessels in the skin and lighten the darkness around the eyes. The tea bags must be wet, of course, before using it on the eyes.
  3. Use green tea to create  a steam facial. Grab your kettle again and boil some water. Put the boiling water in a hot bowl. Cut a tea bag and empty out the tea into the water. Place a towel over your head and bend over the bowl and allow the steam to come over your for 5 minutes.
  4. The material that tea bags are made out of can be the perfect way to fix a broken nail. If now of your long nails breaks, you can cut a piece of the tea bag off, place it onto the broken spot and adhere it with nail glue. File it into shape and add top coat and polish and it’ll be good as new. This is the perfect solution if you don’t want to clip long nails just because of a small break in one.
  5. Aside from using the tea on yourself in different ways, just drinking it will provide you with so many amazing health benefits. Drinking tea has been proven to extend life expectancy and eliminate so many health problems from cancer, to heart disease. Find a favorite tea brand and try all of the different flavors. It will be a delicious journey, and good for you! My personal favorite brand is Twinings.

A Makeup Free Day

I love makeup and I love how it makes me look, but sometimes it’s really nice to go a day without it. On my makeup free days, I still like to add a few products to make me feel cleansed and natural. I suppose it’s cheating to use products on a natural day, but what can I say, I’m a beauty addict.

Here are some of the things I do on my natural days to stay radiant without a lot of color.

. In order to be able to go without makeup, it’s important to care for your skin. When your skin is beautiful, you won’t need a lot to cover up blemishes and spotty bits. I never skip a day of caring for my skin, which leads to…

Cleanse. I use a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, bacteria, and any previously left over makeup.

Moisturize. Moisturizing regularly will ensure that your skin has a natural glow every day. Invest in a good moisturizer that will rejuvenate your skin and protect it from the sun.

Curl your lashes. Curling lashes can be a great way to frame the eyes without any mascara. Your eyes will look big and bright. It’s amazing how something so simple can make such a difference.

Care for your brows. Nice clean, shaped brows are another way to make your face naturally beautiful. Use a little brow gel to keep them tame and tidy.

Shiny lips. A bit of lip balm or gloss is a great way to complete a natural look.

For anyone who just can’t be bothered with using makeup regularly, these little simple things can make all the difference. As much as I love makeup, I go without it plenty. But I always make sure I take care of myself and look my best no matter what!
